Items eligible for drop-off include pesticides, paint, motor oil, antifreeze, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, pool chemicals, ammonia, computers and TVs.
Activities will begin at 1 p.m. and will include creative games, snacks and a chance to view award-winning poetry by young writers from across Hattiesburg.
The nationwide effort is led by an alliance of journalists, nonprofit leaders and other supporters who want to highlight the value of reliable local reporting.
The event will feature nature-themed activities such as a petting zoo, a live raptor show, a native plant sale, food trucks and kayaking tours for all skill levels.
