BILOXI — A solar-powered medical development near North Oaklawn Lane and Interstate 10 in Biloxi is under construction and expected to bring new health care facilities to Harrison County by early January 2027.
The development is designed to operate fully on solar power, with traditional power from a utility company serving as a backup instead of a generator.
Phase one of the project has been approved by the city of Biloxi and is under construction, with completion projected for the first week of January 2027, according to Hardy Architect President Marty Hardy.
The first phase includes two medical facilities, one specializing in pain management and the other in dermatology.
“It’s going to give them [residents] pretty good access to very good health care,” Hardy said. “It’s centrally located in Harrison County, so it should give good access all the way throughout the county.”
Hardy said the facility’s location just off Interstate 10 will make it visible and accessible to many Harrison County residents.
“It’s one of its kind. One-of-a-kind building,” Hardy said. “I’m running the entire building, and it’s pretty unique.”
Phase two of the development is still awaiting approval and could begin in July.
