Activities will begin at 1 p.m. and will include creative games, snacks and a chance to view award-winning poetry by young writers from across Hattiesburg.
The nationwide effort is led by an alliance of journalists, nonprofit leaders and other supporters who want to highlight the value of reliable local reporting.
This is the second year of the revamped fair after organizers switched partnerships to North American Midway Entertainment, the largest amusement ride supplier in North America.
Organizers said it will feature rescued native birds and an instructor who will share facts about the birds and explain their role in the local ecosystem.
