LUCEDALE — The 11th annual Mississippi Shakespeare in the Park Festival is scheduled for April 11 at Lucedale City Park, where organizers plan a free, family-friendly afternoon of performances inspired by the works of William Shakespeare.
The festival will run from noon to 4 p.m. and is organized by the Arts Committee of the George County Chamber of Commerce. It is sponsored by the Lucedale-George County Public Library.
Attendees can expect short live performances throughout the event, including scenes, sonnets and soliloquies from Shakespeare’s plays.
The event is open to the public. Guests are encouraged to wear Elizabethan or Renaissance-style clothing, although costumes are not required.
Organizers are still seeking people for speaking roles and Elizabethan guide roles. Those interested can contact the Lucedale-George County Public Library at 601-947-2123 or through the library’s Facebook page.
