GLENDALE — A new membership-based primary care clinic is expected to open this fall in near Petal, giving Pine Belt residents an alternative to traditional primary care. 

Magnolia Sage Direct Primary Care will open its third clinic at 1716 Evelyn Gandy Parkway, Suite 10, in Glendale. 

The clinic operates under a direct primary care model, in which patients pay a monthly membership fee for unlimited primary care services instead of paying copays or having each office visit billed through insurance. Patients can still use their health insurance for services outside the clinic, including prescription medications, specialist visits, imaging, hospital care and other covered medical services. 

Patients will be able to get routine primary care through in-office visits, telehealth appointments, phone consultations and app-based messaging. 

Patricia Campbell, a family medicine physician who has cared for patients in the Hattiesburg and Petal area for the past four years, said the direct primary care model allows her to spend more time with patients and focus on preventive, relationship-based care. 

“I wanted to practice medicine the way it’s meant to be practiced, taking time with patients, building relationships and focusing on overall health instead of just rushing through visits to meet a quota,” Campbell said. 

Campbell said the clinic will provide many of the same services as a traditional primary care practice while allowing her to determine appointment lengths and offer patients multiple ways to communicate with their physician. 

Magnolia Sage Direct Primary Care is expected to open in late September or early October. Membership pricing has not yet been announced. Residents can follow the clinic’s Facebook page for updates on enrollment, pricing and the clinic’s opening date.
