For Hattiesburg barber Bonnie Holloway, the process marks a sign of progress after two years of uncertainty following the state’s merger of its cosmetology and barbering boards.
Leaders involved in the effort said that support could include workforce development, networking, promotion and other practical resources for business owners.
The two-day conference brings together professionals from across the events industry, including planners, venue managers, caterers, rental companies, designers, marketers, nonprofit leaders and corporate teams.
The bridge, which has been closed to vehicle traffic since 2023, will be demolished and replaced by early summer with a culvert-style bridge designed for both cars and pedestrians.
The bill is designed to address gaps in the state’s workforce by helping adults complete certificates or associate degrees aligned with Mississippi’s priority occupations.
