PASCAGOULA — Sand Jam will take place May 30 at Pascagoula Beach Park to celebrate Mississippi’s wildlife. The event will host Forces of Nature, and the Mississippi Coastal Cleanup Program will conduct a volunteer beach cleanup.
Sand Jam is a collaboration among numerous organizations, people and businesses who share a collective passion for preserving, protecting and celebrating the Mississippi Coast’s biodiversity.
Forces of Nature is organized by the Jackson County Recreation Department in partnership with the city of Pascagoula.
The free event will feature hands-on activities, outdoor experiences and educational exhibits focused on the region’s variety of life.
Attendees can participate in kayaking, beach games, art activities and youth fishing, with live animal demonstrations including birds of prey and turtles.
While Forces of Nature is scheduled for 10 a.m., the beach cleanup will be held at 8 a.m. at Pascagoula Beach Park.
“Help us kick things off by removing litter from the beach and making a positive impact before the festivities begin,” event organizers said.
Volunteers are advised to bring sun protection, a reusable water bottle and closed-toe shoes.
A registration form must be filled out to participate in the beach cleanup.
