LUMBERTON — The Lumberton Main Street Association will host its first Bigfoot Gala on Saturday, April 18, from 6 to 10 p.m. at old Hardware & Farm Supply.
The gala will serve as a fundraiser for Christmas projects and facade grant programs supported by the association.
The event will feature a silent auction with prizes including a Pampered Chef deluxe stand mixer, a two-night hotel stay with brunch or dinner at Scarlet Pearl in Biloxi, a night at Imperial Palace with a $50 Bayview Gourmet gift certificate, and other items.
Silent auction winners will be announced before the gala ends.
John Maroney, executive director of the Lumberton Main Street Association, will speak at the gala about the importance of taking action in the community rather than just complaining online.
“People will always say, ‘Nothing good comes from Lumberton.’ That is slowly changing, and you see more things like the Bigfoot Gala,” Maroney said.
Lumberton High School Principal Marc Holmes and Alderwoman Jasmin Holder will also speak at the event.
Charles “CC” Carter is scheduled to perform a one-man show during the gala.
Jasmin’s Catering will provide food, and a Bigfoot-themed menu will be available.
Sylvia Pearcy, a board member of the Lumberton Main Street Association, said organizers are hoping for a large crowd.
“I would say right now you’re looking at about 100 to 150 people attending,” Pearcy said.
Ticket prices range from $15 for students younger than 18 to $20 for single tickets. Couples tickets are listed at $17.50 each. Tickets can be purchased through Ticket Tailor.
The dress code is listed as “legendary chic,” and attendees are encouraged to wear suits and other classic looks.
