Joshua Wilson, Community Liaison
Joshua Wilson is the community liaison for the Roy Howard Community Journalism Center at The University of Southern Mississippi, where he also serves as an adjunct professor in the School of Media and Communication.
The native Mississippian started his career at 15 as a correspondent for his hometown newspaper. He is a two-time graduate of William Carey University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in social science and English as well as a Master of Business Administration degree. He also holds a graduate certificate in economic development from Southern Miss.
Wilson has worked as a reporter and editor for several publications, including one of the state’s largest weekly newspapers, a regional lifestyles magazine, and the state’s premier business journal. Outside of journalism, he has headed marketing and public relations activities for organizations like the nation’s 12th-largest foodservice distributor.
His duties at the center include managing community relations and marketing efforts, implementing the “What Is True?” program, supervising and training student employees, and providing editorial guidance.
