HATTIESBURG — Hattiesburg residents have until May 31 to share feedback on a long-term plan that will help guide the city’s growth for the next 20 years.
The city’s “Hattiesburg 150 and Beyond” comprehensive plan is in its final adoption phase. City officials are targeting adoption this summer.
The plan is the city’s first major comprehensive plan update since 2008. It is designed to guide decisions on growth, development, transportation, housing, public spaces and other community needs.
The planning process began in February 2025. The final plan will include a vision for the city, objectives, guiding principles, strategies, policies and steps for putting the plan into action.
Residents can provide feedback by completing the Hattiesburg 150 draft plan survey before it closes May 31.
The survey has two sections: a general review and a detailed direction review. Residents can complete one or both sections.
The general review is expected to take about 15 minutes. It asks residents to review the plan’s 12 objectives and how the proposed policies and actions support them.
The detailed direction review gives residents a chance to comment on more than 180 recommendations from Chapters 2 and 3 of the plan. The city recommends using this section as a reading guide for those who want to review the full plan more closely.
