Ask Me What Is True? Training

A University of Southern Mississippi student listens as Joshua Wilson presents the center’s “Ask Me What Is True?” media literacy training on April 15.

In today’s digital world, false and misleading information spreads quickly — making it harder to know what is true. “Ask Me What Is True?” is an engaging, interactive media literacy training created by the Roy Howard Community Journalism Center. The session helps individuals understand the difference between misinformation and disinformation, identify red flags in news and social media, and practice simple fact-checking techniques. It also explores the impact of false information on communities and teaches participants how to be more responsible consumers and sharers of news.

Participants leave with practical tools to confidently navigate the media landscape. After the session, attendees can complete a short quiz to earn a digital media literacy certification.

There are currently no upcoming training sessions scheduled.

We’d love for your organization to partner with the RHCJC to host an “Ask Me What Is True?” media literacy training in your community! These free, interactive sessions are led by the RHCJC team and open to the public.

If you are interested in partnering to host this media literacy event in your area, please reach out to Community Engagement Specialist Ame Posey at [email protected] for dates and details.
