BEAUMONT — The Beaumont Ladies Fire Auxiliary will host its annual Old School Day in the Park on Saturday, June 27, as the community celebration marks its 50th anniversary.
The event will begin with a parade at 1 p.m. Activities in the park will start at 1:30 p.m. and continue throughout the day, ending with fireworks after dark.
The Beaumont Ladies Fire Auxiliary supports the town’s firefighters in several ways, including buying needed items, preparing food and organizing community events.
Ruth Carnahan, a member of the auxiliary, said the fireworks show is one of the day’s biggest attractions.
“We have one of the best fireworks shows around, and anybody you ask will probably tell you that,” Carnahan said.
Carnahan said the fireworks are funded through donations collected at roadblocks, where people give money in firefighters’ helmets rather than paying a set admission fee.
“Just go throw $5 in a hat. We’re grateful,” Carnahan said.
The event will also include vendors and possibly karaoke. According to the group’s Facebook post, vendor fees are $25 for food booths and $15 for other products. School booths may participate free of charge.
Organizers are also seeking vendors, entertainment, door prizes and community support to help make this year’s event a success.
