FORREST COUNTY — Kids Hub Child Advocacy will host a Touch a Truck event on April 11 in support of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, educating participants about the importance of child safety through hands-on involvement.
National Child Abuse Prevention Month is one way to recognize the importance of advocacy for the prevention of child abuse and neglect, specifically through outreach to families and community members.
Erica Smith, director of development for Kids Hub Child Advocacy, said the organization is “deeply committed” to prevention efforts across the communities it supports, including outreach through the Touch a Truck event.
“This family-friendly event gives children the opportunity to explore a variety of vehicles up close, meet the people who operate them, and engage in a fun, hands-on experience,” Smith said.
The Touch a Truck event will offer early entry from 9 to 10 a.m. and regular admission from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Children 12 and younger will pay $7 for early entry and $5 for regular admission. Adult admission is free.
The event will take place at The Center at Forrest County with help from sponsors including Ferguson Federal Credit Union, Clearpoint Engineers, Chancellor Sumrall, Pine Grove Behavioral and Addiction Services, Stork Secret and Walmart.
