HATTIESBURG — Sisters In Unity and 1 Accord Entertainment will host the first “Resurrection Runway: Pastels and Power Kicks” Easter Sneaker Ball at the Rawl Springs Community Center on April 4.
Organizers say the event is designed to bring youth together for a fun and uplifting experience.
Activities will include an LED runway experience, an Easter egg hunt, sneaker awards, music, dancing, a 360-degree photo booth and prizes.
The Easter egg hunt will be free and divided by age groups. Children ages 0-2 will begin at 12:30 p.m.; ages 3-5 at 1 p.m.; ages 6-8 at 1:30 p.m.; and ages 9-12 at 2 p.m.
Kimberly Smith, events coordinator for Sisters In Unity, said the sneaker ball will have a $10 admission fee per child. However, donations and sponsorships may help cover costs for children who might not otherwise be able to attend.
“This is the very first one to happen in the Hattiesburg area, and we want to make it an annual event,” Smith said.
Organizers are currently seeking community sponsors. Sponsors will be recognized on social media, printed promotional materials and a potential souvenir book.
Smith said monetary donations could also help provide decorations, Easter eggs, baskets, food or sneakers for children attending the event.
“If we get sponsors that want to sponsor kids who are underprivileged and would like to eat, then we can also use those monetary donations to sponsor other kids who will be able to eat, and we may even be able to buy some sneakers,” Smith said.
Anyone interested in sponsoring, volunteering or donating can contact Kimberly Smith at 601-699-2541 or Shalanda Williams at 601-596-2869.
