PETAL — Downtown Petal will host its first St. Patrick’s Day parade March 14, with proceeds supporting local Jaycee projects and programs.
The parade, organized by the JCI Petal Jaycees, begins at 2 p.m. Organizers say the event aims to bring the community together while raising funds for service initiatives throughout the year.
The theme, “Luck of the Irish,” encourages participants to decorate floats in green with lights, music and high-energy displays. Bands, dance teams, walking groups, performers and float builders are invited to join.
Awards will be given for best use of color, luckiest float — recognizing the most Irish symbolism — best walking or performing group and Jaycee’s Choice. Winners will be announced on the JCI Petal Facebook page.
Organizers are encouraging both participants and spectators to line the streets in green and help make the inaugural parade a memorable addition to Petal’s downtown events.
More information is available on the JCI Petal Facebook page.
