HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Taylor Garretson, a senior at The University of Southern Mississippi, was crowned the 2025 Mississippi Miss Hospitality on July 19 at the Historic Hattiesburg Saenger Theater, rising to the top of a field of 47 contestants after a week of interviews, speeches and stage presentations. The Greene County native will serve as the 76th Mississippi Miss Hospitality, traveling the state over the next year as a goodwill ambassador for economic development and tourism. A digital journalism major and dance minor, Garretson credits her education, experiences with USM’s Dixie Darlings dance team, and leadership roles for building the skills and confidence needed to represent the state. She is a Mississippi Press Association award winner, has interned with the Greene County Herald, and contributed to “Discover Greene County” magazine. Garretson plans to pursue a career in journalism while continuing to teach dance. Dr. David Davies, professor of journalism at USM, praised her work ethic and professionalism, calling her a great representative for both the university and Mississippi. Garretson said she is honored to promote Mississippi while highlighting the Southern Miss community that has shaped her journey.
