Southeast Mississippi Planner

The Southeast Mississippi Planner aims to drive community connection and civic engagement through weekly updates sorted by county. The Community Garden at the Hancock County Senior Citizen’s Center in Bay St. Louis is just one example of the local efforts you’ll find highlighted in our coverage.

The Southeast Mississippi Planner launches August 18 — but you can start contributing today.

The Planner is a new public service from the Roy Howard Community Journalism Center, designed to keep you informed, connected and civically engaged — right here in your community. Read more about the Planner here.

Help Us Get Started: Submit a Neighbor Note

We’re collecting Neighbor Notes now — quick community updates about events, opportunities, needs and small wins across southeast Mississippi. Think of it like a digital bulletin board for your town.

Have news to share? Tell us about your event, project or local success. We’re listening.

Submit a Neighbor Note

Submissions will be featured beginning August 18 when the full Planner launches.

Coming August 18: Your Weekly Civic Snapshot

Starting August 18, we’ll publish a new edition of the Southeast Mississippi Planner each week — organized by county and packed with practical information, including:

  • News from the Source: Straightforward reporting on local government, schools, health care and other community priorities.
  • Civic Watch: Public meetings, agendas, minutes and more — so you can know what your officials are discussing before decisions are made.
  • Weekly Highlights: Spotlights on neighbor-submitted notes, events and important deadlines to keep on your radar.
